Recently, a joint report from The Commerce Commission and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission was released. It focused on comparing fibre and wireless plans between New Zealand and Australia. The report revealed that New Zealand’s Ultra-Fast Broadband network compares very well to Australia’s National Broadband Network!
This report confirms what we already know… heaps of Kiwis are getting top notch broadband performance thanks to the Ultra-Fast Broadband network!
“Our Measuring Broadband New Zealand quarterly reports have [already] demonstrated the excellent speed and performance New Zealand consumers are experiencing. This report shows that our UFB [Ultra-Fast Broadband] network stacks up well against the best our neighbours have to offer,” says Tristan Gilbertson, Telecommunications Commissioner.
The report collected various data on internet speeds and performance across the two countries during September 2021. Back then Kiwis were getting great broadband but now things have gotten even better!
“In the period since testing for this report was conducted, fibre wholesalers, including Chorus, have begun offering increased speeds of 300 Mbps on the 100 Mbps wholesale fibre connections at no extra cost to retailers, which means we now have even faster internet compared to Australia,” says Mr Gilbertson.
That’s amazing! It’s fantastic to see that Kiwis are getting outstanding access to fast broadband. Now we know it even stacks up internationally!
Reports like these are really important for all Kiwi consumers! It’s absolutely crucial as it shows Kiwis what they should expect from their broadband providers.
Reading the report, it’s clear that in Aotearoa, you can get world-class broadband that’s on par with our Aussie counter-parts. So if you’re not getting these incredible speeds, then chances are you’re on the wrong broadband plan!
